A stone-turreted retreat in Oakhurst with a celebrated restaurant and spa.
Chateau du Sureau is a stone-turreted luxury property in Oakhurst built around posh rooms, a renowned restaurant, and a spa. It sits close to Yosemite's south entrance, but reviewers keep coming back for the property itself — an escape that reads more like a countryside estate than a standard hotel stop. It holds a 4.8-star rating across 146 reviews.
The onsite restaurant, Elderberry House, comes up again and again as a highlight of the stay. One guest called dinner there "exceptional — unique flavors and a romantic atmosphere," and the space has also hosted small weddings, with reviewers praising both the food and the event coordination.
Guests describe individually styled rooms — the Ciboulette Room and Elderberry Room both come up in reviews — along with early check-in flexibility and in-room coffee and soup service after a long day in the park. Breakfast draws consistent praise, with one reviewer calling it "fresh, comforting, and absolutely delicious," and the gardens are frequently mentioned as a highlight for anniversary and special-occasion stays. One review did note the Elderberry Room was starting to show some wear, so it's worth asking about room options when you book.

Amazing service in a gorgeous and tranquil setting about 30 minutes from Yosemite’s south entrance. People were wonderfully friendly and nice. The onsite restaurant and bar have delicious food and excellent service. The wine paring for the 5 course meal was also amazing. The breakfast was fantastic and they remembered our preferences. We took advantage of the lovely pool and bocce court. We had room #2 Rosehip and the antiques were lovely with a large bathroom. There was 24 hour service if you need tea or water or other service. There was good security due to the rooms being behind a locked car gate that require verification before being allowed to enter. Highly recommend it, although quite pricey.

We had a delightful stay in the Ciboluette Room. The staff warmly welcomed us and even allowed an early check-in, which was a lovely surprise. Their hospitality was exceptional — after a long day at the park, we were greeted with coffee and hot soup served right in our room. Breakfast the next morning was fresh, comforting, and absolutely delicious. The entire chateau was stunningly picturesque, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly special experience. Special thanks to Giselle and Logan for their warm hospitality
