This team really put it on the table. Fresh flavors in the pear salad, and the backed cheese starter came out so quickly that we had barely tasted our wines. Great patio. Reasonable prices. Friendly, helpful service.

Wine flights and scratch-made plates near Yosemite's south entrance
Idle Hour Winery & Kitchen, at Queen's Inn & Wine Bar in Fish Camp, pours tasting flights and runs a made-from-scratch kitchen a few minutes south of Yosemite's Highway 41 entrance. It holds a 4.6-star average across 191 reviews, with regulars calling out the wine list, the off-menu flatbread, and the cat that keeps you company while you wait on food.
The space reads more like an intimate lounge than a formal dining room — string lights, low music, and a patio out back. Wine tastings are a centerpiece here: several visitors describe doing a flight and leaving with bottles to take home. The kitchen menu draws consistent praise for being made from scratch, and the space has also hosted private events, including a full surprise-party booking with live music that one reviewer worked out with staff ahead of time.
It's closed Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday is evenings only (6–8 PM), Thursday through Saturday run midday into the evening (roughly 12–8 or 12–9 PM), and Sunday is a shorter morning-into-early-afternoon window (10 AM–2 PM).
Yes — tasting flights are a highlight reviewers mention repeatedly, with several visitors buying bottles to take home after trying a flight.
Reviewers describe successfully booking private events like a surprise birthday party with live music, but feedback on prix-fixe holiday seatings (Valentine's Day specifically) is mixed, with some guests feeling the price didn't match the experience. The regular a-la-carte menu gets consistently strong reviews.

Went for an evening of music with friends. Very chill vibe on the patio. Ordered wonderful food from Idle Hour Kitchen. They have a wide variety of options from small plates, salads to full on dinners. They texted us when it was ready and we brought out to the patio. We will be back.

We had dinner here a few days ago and it was very good! The charcuterie board was amazing as well as the pear salad. I had the local Malbec and that was very good as well. We both liked it so much we tried to return again for dinner, but they were closed unfortunately.

Great location with excellent food selection. We sat outside facing the creek. Ordered small plates and wine. The food was phenomenal. Flatbread. Artichoke salad. Chorizo.
