The Ahwahnee Bar

Cocktails and pub plates in the historic Ahwahnee Hotel lobby

About

The Ahwahnee Bar sits in the stone-and-timber lobby of the Ahwahnee Hotel, one of Yosemite Valley's grandest historic buildings, and pours cocktails alongside elevated pub plates for hotel guests and day visitors alike. It's less a quick stop than a place to sit for a while after a day on the trails — high ceilings, exposed stone, and the kind of atmosphere that only comes from a building this old.

Food and drink

The menu runs toward shareable plates. Reviewers repeatedly call out the grilled halloumi cheese and tomatoes, a charcuterie board, a mezze plate, and an antipasto salad, alongside cocktails like the Green Banana and El Burro. Service and atmosphere get consistent praise; the beer selection is the one recurring gripe, and food quality is described as good but uneven from dish to dish.

It's open 11:30 AM to 9 PM Monday through Thursday, and 11:30 AM to 10 PM Friday through Sunday.

What kind of food does the Ahwahnee Bar serve?

Shareable, elevated pub-style plates rather than a full dinner menu — think charcuterie, grilled halloumi, mezze, and antipasto, paired with a cocktail list.

Yes — it's open to day visitors as well as hotel guests, and reviewers consistently praise the historic stone-and-timber atmosphere even when opinions on individual dishes vary.

Yum!!! Stopped here while in Yosemite to get a drink and appetizer and it was great! We got the grilled halloumi cheese and Tomatoes and it was so delicious. The cheese was sharp and the tomatoes were sweet it was so good! To drink I got The green banana to drink and my bestie got the el burrro . They were both good but mine was strong!!

The charcuterie plate had fresh ingredients, tasty meats and cheese, and warm bread, and everything paired well together. It was definitely enjoyable, but at $27, the portion felt a bit small for the price. The quality was good, though, and the atmosphere and service made the experience pleasant. Overall, a good appetizer, but I wish it offered a little more value for the cost.

honestly i walked in with pretty low expectations since its just a bar in a small town. but the vibe was so warm and welcoming I ended up staying way longer than I planned, the bartender was super friendly and made a drink that literally made my day. I barely even check my phone while I was sitting there thats how much I was enjoying it. really grateful for that little spot definitely going back when im in the area.
