About

The Hitching Post is a roadside bar and restaurant in Fish Camp, the small community just outside Yosemite's south entrance. It has built a strong local following — a 4.6-star rating across 633 reviews is a hard number for any restaurant that sees a steady stream of one-time park visitors, and reviewers consistently point to clean dining rooms and attentive counter and bar service as part of the draw.

What People Order

Reviews call out the fish and chips, bacon cheeseburger, and jalapeno burger most often, usually paired with coleslaw or potato salad. The roast beef sandwich, made with a homemade tomato sauce, gets its own mentions, as do the potato skins. The bar area has live music and dancing some nights, and more than one reviewer notes the owner works the floor alongside staff rather than staying in the back.

A truly authentic place. The food is delicious and Shane's service was excellent! A must-stop if you're passing by!

Came here for dinner after long drive, and we didn't have to wait to get a table. We were attended right away. We ordered: 1 Onion Rings 1 Patty Melt Sandwich Western Bacon Cheese Burger They served first the onion rings followed by the melt sandwich and last the burger. It looked like a dark night style of restaurant full of TVs and some games to play. We thought overall, the food was too salty for us, especially the patty, fries, and onion rings. Service was good.

we had to ask for silverware three times before someone finally brought it over, and it still wasnt clean. the food itself was fine i guess, but the whole experience just felt clunky and unorganized. i dont get how a place this small can have such slow service when it wasnt even busy. makes me wonder if we just caught them on a really off day or something.

i was expecting a standard roadside place but honestly this is way nicer inside than you'd think. ive been stopping here for years and they remember my order half the time which is wild for a spot off the highway. food is always solid and the staff are friendly even when its busy. only thing i wish they had was a few more vegetarian options the fries get old after the third visit in a row.
