About

The Local Grape is a small wine tasting room in Mariposa that's earned a perfect 5-star average across 33 reviews, largely on the strength of an unhurried, hands-on tasting experience. Walk in expecting a standard wine bar and you'll find something closer to a neighborhood wine shop: a fixed tasting flight, a tightly curated list of bottles, and real conversation about what's in your glass rather than a scripted pour.

The Tasting

Reviewers describe a five-wine tasting for a modest fee, waived if you buy a bottle afterward — which most visitors end up doing. The list leans toward local vineyards, with both reds and whites on offer; reviewers put bottle prices mostly in the $20-$30 range, with options running from around $15 up into the $40s. Staff take the time to steer picks toward your actual taste rather than running a one-size flight, and one team member, Travis, gets called out by name for it.

Unexpectedly wonderful wine tasting with the owner. Walked in thinking it was a regular wine bar; but it’s a local wine shop with local tastings and a knowledgeable owner. Apparently he’s always here ready to talk wine. Tastings are free if you buy a bottle - and we walked out with 4 great bottles (which meant 2 free and robust tastings.) Had an absolute blast, couldn’t recommend more.

Great tasting room with phenomenal wines. The owner is very knowledgeable and shared with us where every bottle we tried came from. Our time here was a delight and I highly recommend a visit!

Absolutely amazing wines tucked away in this ramen shop that you wouldn’t even know was here. Highly recommend as it’s fantastic service, wines, and hospitality.
