About

Whoa Nellie Deli sits inside a working Mobil station in Lee Vining, and that oddity is half the reason people talk about it. The kitchen turns out fish tacos, ribs, ahi tuna sashimi, pizza, and a breakfast burrito that regulars order on repeat, and the setup is counter service: order at the register, then grab a seat yourself. Outdoor tables face Mono Lake, which reviewers consistently call out as the last thing they expected from a fuel stop.

What People Order

  • Fish tacos and mango tacos
  • Lobster and crab taquitos
  • Pork chops and ribs
  • Ahi tuna sashimi
  • Breakfast burritos and a sugar-free vanilla latte

We weren't expecting gourmet food at a gas station, but it was very tasty, well-prepared, and fun. My husband got fish tacos and I got the pork chop. The food is served on real plates, but they call your number to come pick them up at the counter. We ate outside on a picnic table and had a nice view of the lake. Everything was delicious, but our favorite thing was the carrot cake we got for desert.

Not recommended. Don’t go. Average food, but pricey. I gave them a 15% tip when I paid and then they didn’t even bring the food to my table, or anything else. Why ask for a tip if they don’t do anything??? Criminal. Also we arrived at 10:35 wanting breakfast (lunch menu starts at 11am) but were told only lunch was available — however, we would have to wait until 11am before lunch was served. So basically there’s a 30-minute window where they don’t serve anything between 10:30–11:00am? What the ??? I’ve never encountered such a weird policy at any other restaurant. Surely there are other restaurants in Lee Vining that don’t treat their customers as an afterthought.

Yum, yum! A delicious stop after we drove Tioga Road. Saw it on IG and it didn't disappoint. Friendly service, quality food, and quickly prepared. We had fish tacos and the pork tacos. Everyone was happy with their meals. Wish I lived closer to try another food item. We ate outside and had a lovely meal under the sun with the view of the Lake. Really enjoyed this vacation stop.
