About

Discover Yosemite Tours is based in Fish Camp, just south of Yosemite National Park, and runs private, guided day trips into the park. Guides handle the driving, the parking-lot timing, and the route planning — reviewers consistently credit their drivers with getting them into busy spots like Mariposa Grove and Tunnel View ahead of the crowds. The outfit holds a 4.8-star rating across 111 reviews, with repeat mentions of guides who double as skilled photographers and go deep on the park's geology, ecology, and history along the way.

What a Tour Covers

Reviewers describe private tours — no strangers sharing your vehicle — often running a full day; one guest logged about nine hours on the road and trail with their guide. Stops that come up repeatedly in reviews include Mariposa Grove's giant sequoias and the Tunnel View overlook, with routes timed around traffic and parking congestion at the park's busiest pullouts. Guides named in reviews, including Bob, Jarrett, Tyler, and Phillip Ireland, are repeatedly singled out for pacing each stop well and pointing out photo spots guests wouldn't have found on their own.

We were in Yosemite the first week of June and booked a full day private tour with Discover Yosemite. Jarrett was our guide. He was absolutely incredible. He never rushed us but somehow we saw more of Yosemite in those 9 hours than most folks probably do in a few days. He was able to beat the traffic and take us places in a schedule that hit the parking lots at the right time. Jarrett was explained the history of each place. It was lovely spending the day with him. He was also helpful with suggestions for the 2 days left on our own. The private trip was a expensive but very well worth it!!!

We booked this tour because we expected heavy traffic and chaotic parking during the holiday weekend. Considering we only had one full day to visit Yosemite National Park, it was a convenient option. We were able to see most of the places included in the itinerary, although time was limited because of the crowds, traffic, and busy conditions inside the park. Most of the trip involved driving and sitting in the mini bus. If you only have limited time like us and don't want the hassle of driving or finding parking, I would recommend this tour. However, if you really want to explore, hike, and fully experience Yosemite's beauty, it's better to do a DIY trip and stay for a few more days. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the Grizzly Giant tree or get close to the waterfalls due to time constraints. On the positive side, I appreciated the free snacks, unlimited bottled water, and the included lunch, although the food itself was just okay and nothing special. Overall, Discovery Yosemite did a good job, and Chad, our driver, was very knowledgeable. We honestly couldn't even take a nap during the trip because he was talking the whole time - haha! But in a good way. He's like a walking historian, and you'll definitely learn a lot about Yosemite and the surrounding areas from him.
