What a view — and what a drive to get here. Horseshoe Bend Overlook is one of those spots that makes you stop, breathe, and just take it all in. The Merced River twists below in a perfect curve, surrounded by steep canyon walls and rolling foothills. It’s dramatic, peaceful, and absolutely worth the detour. The drive along CA-132 adds to the experience. Winding roads, old ranch land, and those wide Sierra foothill vistas make it feel like a trip back in time. This stretch once carried stagecoaches, freight wagons, and early miners heading toward Coulterville and the goldfields — it’s easy to picture the past on these roads. A stunning overlook with deep history beneath your feet. A must-see if you’re exploring the area.
