About

Yosemite Trails Horseback Adventures runs guided trail rides out of Fish Camp, threading through Sierra forest, creek crossings, and open hillside with a crew that's clearly done this a long time β€” the outfit has earned a 4.8-star rating across more than 500 reviews. Rides run from one-hour outings to longer two-hour adventures, with an on-site lesson before you head out, so first-time riders and kids as young as 8 saddle up alongside experienced guests.

What to Expect

Every ride starts with basic instruction, then moves onto the trail β€” creek crossings, wooded switchbacks, and open ground where the horses find their footing. One reviewer mentions spotting a black bear along the route, and staff hand out a bandana for the dustier stretches of trail. Guides get consistent praise for patience with nervous beginners, non-English speakers, and large groups alike, including bachelorette parties and multi-generation families riding together.

We did a 1 hour ride in late July which I thought was great. We have gone horse back riding many times and this was probably one of the best. First, they put you through a training session, teaching you how to stop, turn and move your horse on a mini course. The trail through that part of the Sierra Nevada is a big rugged but the horses do a great job. They go through two streams which was fun. We had 12 people in our group for an 8:30 ride. It’s all shaded which was an added bonus.

We had an amazing experience on the two hour trail ride. Our guide, Trinity, was amazing; we came across a mama bear and her two cubs during our ride. Trinity spotted them before we came up on them and knew exactly what to do as to not startle the mama, we stayed at a safe distance, and were able to enjoy the whole experience while staying calm. All of the staff at Yosemite stables are very knowledgeable and kind. I would highly recommend visiting!

Absolutely loved our experience here. My daughters (9 and 12) and I went on the 1 hour ride. The staff was amazing from the very start. They made a huge effort matching people with the right horses, made sure everyone felt comfortable with the horse before the trail ride started and were just super friendly and you can tell they really care for the horses. The horses know the trail so well that you really just let them do their thing. Our guide Tristan was great and talked to my girls they whole ride. The trail itself is so beautiful that it just makes it that much better. Highly recommend if you are in the area. My girls and I can't wait to go back!

The instructors were patient and thorough with their training! The trail was amazing
