Sivels Mountain is a 5,842-foot summit in the Sierra National Forest just a few miles north of Bass Lake, and it's built for peak-baggers rather than casual day hikers. There's no maintained trail here — reaching the top means driving unpaved forest roads and finishing on foot through open woods.
Getting to the Summit
From Highway 41 near Yosemite Forks, Sky Ranch Road (Forest Road 10) climbs into the forest; from there, Forest Roads 6S11 and 6S11C lead to a saddle roughly a third of a mile southeast of the summit. Park at the saddle and follow the open forest uphill — it's about a 10 to 15-minute walk to the top, with no signed path to follow.
