We stayed for three nights at this place. The rooms are great, but the old lady at the front desk has a pretty nasty attitude. The sign at the front desk says that if you stay three or more nights, you get room service. As I mentioned, we stayed three nights. When we went to the front desk to request clean towels and garbage service, she looked up our room number and informed us that we have to stay four nights in order to receive those services. It seems like she was intentionally choosing not to help us. We ended up taking out our own garbage, buying toilet paper at the store next-door and carrying our own linens back up to the room so that we had fresh supplies. On the morning of checkout, we left our room at 7 o'clock to go next-door for breakfast. When we returned at 8:15, our keys had been disabled and we were unable to enter into our room. Checkout time is 10 o'clock so I'm unsure why they chose to disable our keys so early in the morning. Again, we went downstairs and had to deal with the old lady up front. She did not seem interested in helping, but grudgingly gave us keys so that we could get back into our room until checkout time. It's unfortunate that such a beautiful property is being micromanaged by someone like the person at the front desk. Such potential being wasted on horrible employees. We will not be back.

The bed was comfortable but the curtains above the bed were way too short, so as soon as the sun rises you wake up because the sun is right in your face

Lake View Lodge – Lee Vining, CA Lake View Lodge was an excellent base for exploring the Eastern Sierra. Its central location made it easy to reach Mono Lake, Saddlebag Lake, June Lake, Virginia Lakes, Tuolumne Meadows, and several birding hotspots. I was especially focused on photographing the spectacular Mono Lake sunrises, which meant leaving before 4:00 a.m. each morning, so I really appreciated not having a long drive before dawn. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, and the staff was friendly and efficient, especially during check-in. My only suggestion would be to update the rooms a bit. They could use better lighting and more conveniently located electrical outlets for charging phones, laptops, camera batteries, and other photography gear. But having a small fridge and microwave was a bonus. There is plenty of parking, an on-site restaurant, and a well-stocked market near the check-in office that carries just about anything you might need during your stay. The outdoor seating area by the restaurant is also a charming place to relax with lunch or dinner after a day of exploring. We visited in early June shortly after Tioga Pass reopened, and the snow-capped peaks made every drive absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking for a comfortable, conveniently located place to explore the Mono Basin and Eastern Sierra, Lake View Lodge is a great choice.
