(108)
Mariposa, CA

About

The Mariposa Hotel Inn occupies a restored 1901 building in the heart of Mariposa, its rooms furnished with antiques and stained-glass fixtures that guests consistently point to as part of the charm. It operates as a bed-and-breakfast, with a continental breakfast included and a below-the-hotel bar, The Hideout, that several guests mention by name. At 4.5 stars across 108 reviews, it's one of the higher-rated places to stay in town, with guests often crediting proprietor Mary by name for the welcome.

Old West Character

Built in 1901, the inn keeps its period detailing intact — guests describe the stonework and architecture as one of the standout historic buildings in Mariposa. One guest was assigned the room where Theodore Roosevelt reportedly stayed, and several call out the stained-glass lamps and antique furnishings as giving the rooms a distinct, old-fashioned feel rather than a generic remodel.

What to Expect

Reviewers are largely enthusiastic about the hospitality — guests mention being greeted by name and given breakfast before heading into Yosemite for the day. That said, feedback isn't unanimous: at least one guest found the room dated and in need of updating, so go in expecting a genuinely old building with historic character rather than a modern renovation.

First rate experience from the time we pulled up to the time we left. The rooms are period, but modern, the proprietor (Mary) is THE MOST sweet and accommodating owner I’ve encountered in decades, and our experience was over the top AWESOME!! We will definitely stay here again, if we can. Got to stay on the room Theodore Roosevelt stayed in and it was super cool. We ate at a super cool little bar under the hotel called The Hideout and it was amazing as well, in all respects.

Mary was an outstanding host and made us feel at home as we were greeted. Historic town, historic building. Provided breakfast before our Yosemite hike. Knew our names upon arrival. No way you can rate this anything less than 5 stars.

I didn’t stay here, but I had to stop and admire the building. The Mariposa Hotel Inn is absolutely beautiful — a perfectly preserved historic structure with incredible charm. The architecture, the stonework, and the setting make it one of the standout buildings in Mariposa. Even just passing by, it’s clear this place has a special presence.
