Lyndsie made our visit to Narrow Gauge Buffalo Bar, just above Oakhurt on Hwy 41, a fabulous experience! She was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely entertaining, making us feel right at home from the moment we sat down on that bar stool. Her gin and tonics were absolutely amazing – perfectly balanced. Her menu recommendations were spot on. It’s obvious she knows the menu and takes a lot of pride in helping guests have a great time. We’ll definitely be back at the end of the month, and hope Lyndsie will be there again. Ok, the manager also came by twice to check on us, and another server, Dawn, was super friendly as well.

Location is perfect for Yosemite national park. We even saw a bear at the side of the road on the short trip up to Glacier Point. Rooms are rustic but lovely. Nice little balconies too. The guys on the front desk were all wonderful with great character and were very helpful. All in all a perfect stay and a base to explore Yosemite early the following morning.

As others have said, the hotel is a mixed bag. The location is beautiful with balconies having a wonderful view of the woods. The place looks quaint from the outside. The rooms are simple and ours seemed clean but very small. We stayed in the summer and the rooms were quite expensive almost $350 a night! They don’t come with breakfast. The restaurant also didn’t serve a paid breakfast but luckily we brought our own. The front desk manager was very nice but we complained multiple times about a bathroom door in room 45 where you got locked in, and it was never fixed during our stay. Also their reservation system cloudbeds got hacked and I received a phishing email to reconfirm, and I believed it, so had to cancel my credit card literally the day we were leaving for the trip. We had another card fedexed and the front desk clerk opened my mail even though my name was clearly on it. I really wanted to love this place and some of it was good but collectively the problems overshadowed the positives for the price paid. That said, the restaurant was very good with excellent food and stupendous staff. It’s well worth a visit even if you’re not staying at the hotel. The front desk manager did try, but the place is priced way too high for all of the problems. It wasn’t a bad place to stay by any means- they’re trying. But it’s overpriced.

The location and rooms are nice. We checked in at 1 pm and we were told that the water was being serviced, which is fine because we were dropping our things to head into the park and they accommodated early check in for us. However, when we got back to the room at 6:30 pm, there is still no running water with no promise of it coming back on. Just keep being told “it should be soon, they’ve been working all day”. I went in the office to see if we can be accommodated with a partial refund as we had booked this months in advance knowing everything will be fully booked and it was almost $500 for one night. I stood there with no one helping me and I rang the bell multiple times. I stood there for about 10 minutes. It is a beautiful property but the basic amenities are not there. We had hoped to eat at the restaurant on property but again, there is no running water.
