Shaded picnic tables and a rocky beach on Bass Lake near Oakhurst
Pinepoint Picnic Site sits on the shore of Bass Lake, a short drive from Oakhurst on a road that winds and climbs before dropping down to the water. This is a day-use spot, not a hotel or campground — come for shaded picnic tables, a straight-on lake view, and easy access for fishing or paddling.
The shoreline here is rocky rather than sandy, so water shoes are worth packing if you plan to wade in or launch a paddleboard — the rocks continue right into the water. Reviewers describe calm water good for fishing and paddleboarding, tree-covered hills ringing the lake, and picnic spots with real shade, which matters on a hot Sierra foothills afternoon. Boat and jet ski traffic passes through the area, so don't expect a quiet, secluded cove.
Visitors rate it 4.6 out of 5 across 64 reviews, with the lake view and shaded tables mentioned most often.
The shoreline is rocky rather than sandy and stays rocky into the water, so most visitors come for paddleboarding, fishing, and picnicking rather than casual swimming. Water shoes make wading in a lot more comfortable.
Yes — reviewers specifically call out tree-covered hills around the lake and multiple shaded picnic spots with a clear view of the water.
Yes, reviewers describe it as a good spot to fish on Bass Lake's calm water, along with paddleboarding and simple lakeside picnicking.
The access road is scenic but narrow and winding, so plan to take it slow — especially if you're hauling a paddleboard or kayak.

Gorgeous views! The drive is scenic (windy but slow) but you'll likely need some water shoes, the beach is very rocky and the rocks continue into the water!
