A historic, walkable downtown Mariposa stay with free breakfast and parking
River Rock Inn is a small, historic property right in the middle of downtown Mariposa, with a western vibe and enough character that guests describe it as a memorable stop on the way into Yosemite. It comes with an on-site eatery and bar, plus free breakfast and free parking, and carries a 4.3-star rating across 247 reviews.
The recurring theme in reviews is location and character over polish. It's a compact hotel — reviewers mention roughly eight or nine rooms — with cozy, comfortably furnished rooms and a few outdoor tables where you can eat or have a drink outside. The attached coffee shop and deli get consistent praise, especially for breakfast, though it isn't always open every day of the week. A few guests flagged rougher edges typical of an older building, like a shower curtain that didn't fully cover the tub or intermittent hot water, so this fits travelers who want personality more than modern polish.
The inn's downtown Mariposa location is its biggest selling point: restaurants, shops, and bars are all within walking distance, and parking sits right next to the rooms — a practical, low-key base for exploring Mariposa before heading into the park.
It's a small property — guests describe it as roughly eight or nine rooms — so it's an intimate stay rather than a large hotel.

Budget-friendly stay option with basic amenities. Convenient for a short overnight stop, but nothing fancy.

The room was rather old, but the hotel itself is historic. The shower was a bit temperamental, but it was fine nonetheless. There's no reception at this hotel; we checked in and out ourselves. We enjoyed our stay in this lovely town!

After so many years of traveling, this is the first time I've stayed in such a terrible hotel. The room was not only dirty and cramped, but it also reeked of strong air freshener. Despite being a motel, it had nine rooms but only eight parking spaces – a truly awful experience.
