Shortly before our arrival, we were asked about our arrival time, to which we replied 4:00 PM. Upon arrival, we still hadn't received an access code for the Emma Suite. We tried to contact the owner by text and email, but received no response. At 4:30 PM, we received the access information without any explanation. The room was generally very nice, with a great mattress, but the shower was so deep that even I, at 167 cm, had to be careful. My husband, at 198 cm, towered over the shower wall and could only shower sitting down. The drain cover was simply placed on top, and it was very dirty underneath. The shower wall was completely covered in limescale, which we wouldn't normally complain about. BUT: since events took a turn that we cannot tolerate, we will disclose everything. On the first night, our neighbors were so loud (partying and playing music until late into the night, or rather, until the early morning) that we complained to the owner. He responded by saying that the guests were supposedly leaving that day. When we returned in the afternoon, the music started up again shortly after. It was techno; the other guests had clearly had a lot to drink, judging by the atmosphere. Since it hadn't stopped even around 9:00 PM, we contacted the owner AGAIN by text message and email. We sent recordings that clearly captured the music and repeatedly asked him to keep it quiet. After more than an hour and a half, we heard the other guests talking to someone for a long time, and the music had also stopped during this period. Unfortunately, we spoke too soon: the guests did go outside and later joined the others in their room, but they "forgot" to turn the music down. So, for over an hour, something like "Calm Down" played, followed by loud advertisements and more techno music. By 10:00 PM, we'd had enough. We packed our things and moved to another hotel. We immediately informed the owner and made it clear that we expected a response the following day, as well as a calculation regarding a price reduction. Of our planned four nights, we only stayed for one and a half. We didn't hear anything the entire following day, so we had to contact him again, and we felt like we'd been blocked. The owner then informed us that he had sent another message to the guests that day, which wasn't relevant to us since we had already left. When we inquired about a refund, he displayed an unparalleled level of audacity. He wrote to us that we had never paid, so there was nothing to refund! We then sent him his own payment confirmation, which we had, to which he claimed not to have it. We then sent him the bank statement showing the failed transfer, to which he again claimed to have the money, but then said there had been a problem with the third-party provider! WARNING: We booked directly with him!!! There is no other provider! These statements border on fraud and demonstrate an unparalleled level of indifference. All in all, the videos on TikTok, Airbnb, or other platforms have nothing to do with reality but are simply targeted advertising designed to make guests with glowing reviews appear to be from guests with excellent reviews. If you search more specifically, you'll find several similar reviews with the same complaints as ours!
UPDATE May 14, 2026: It was exciting that we finally received a response here and that there would be a refund. Unfortunately, we haven't heard anything since, received no refund, and there's been no communication. They're reacting the same way they do to everyone who complains. It was never about the service not being fast enough, but rather about the NO communication, the lack of answers, etc. Big words and no substance. We won't give up in this case... Maybe then something will change.
And one more thing: we completed the payment process and were able to provide multiple proofs and even demonstrate that the payment was received by you. It's easy to blame the guests.
Our stay at Four Daughters Inn was wonderful! The space felt so homey and peaceful and was clean, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. It’s nice and close to Yosemite and downtown Oakhurst, but still feels private and quiet. We loved relaxing here after long days of hiking. Would 100% stay again and recommend to anyone visiting the area!
