Rustic historic cabins across from Mono Lake, near Yosemite's Tioga Pass

Lee Vining, CA

About

Tioga Lodge is a rustic, historic cabin property directly across the highway from Mono Lake, just outside Lee Vining and within reach of Yosemite's eastern entrance at Tioga Pass. The site includes free parking, an on-site restaurant, and a private lake beach — a straightforward, unfussy base for exploring the eastern Sierra.

Rooms & Grounds

Cabins run clean and simple: guests describe comfortable beds, fresh towels, and a well-tended garden dotted with benches for sitting outside between drives. Don't expect a TV in the room, and treat WiFi as a bonus rather than a given — cell coverage is thin for most carriers here, with Verizon reported as the most reliable option. That disconnected feel is part of the appeal for guests looking to slow down, especially with a lake-view sunrise from some cabins.

Know Before You Book

  • The lodge sits right along the highway, and cabins closer to the road pick up traffic noise — ask for one toward the back of the property if quiet matters most.
  • Walls between cabins are thin, so a noisy neighbor can carry.
  • The on-site restaurant has closed at times due to staffing; Lee Vining has other dining options nearby as a backup.

Guest feedback is mixed but often warm — Tioga Lodge holds a 3.6-star average across 156 reviews, with the strongest praise going to the setting, the garden, and the staff's willingness to accommodate requests like a sunrise-facing cabin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tioga Lodge have WiFi and cell service?

WiFi is available but limited, and cell coverage is thin for most carriers — Verizon has been reported as the most reliable option. Plan to disconnect rather than count on a strong signal.

Is the restaurant at Tioga Lodge always open?

Not always — guest reviews note it has closed at times due to staffing, so it's worth calling ahead at (760) 923-8568 or having a backup dining plan in Lee Vining.

Are the cabins at Tioga Lodge quiet?

It depends on location. The lodge sits right along the highway, so cabins near the road can pick up traffic noise, and walls between units are thin. Ask for a cabin toward the back of the property for more quiet.

What's the view like from Tioga Lodge?

The property sits directly across from Mono Lake, and some cabins offer sunrise views over the water — worth requesting when you book.
