We were really looking forward to our family’s glamping trip at Wildhaven Yosemite, but unfortunately our experience was disappointing. We stayed during a week when temperatures exceeded 100°F. One of the reasons we chose this property was because the cabins advertise both heating and air conditioning. On our first night, the air conditioner in our cabin wasn’t cooling properly. The site manager offered us a 15% discount for the inconvenience, but I explained that I wasn’t looking for a discount. I simply wanted a comfortable place for my wife and kids to sleep. She found another available cabin and moved us there, so we packed everything back up and moved, expecting the issue to be resolved. After moving us, the discount was removed, which I accepted because I believed we were being placed in a cabin with a properly functioning AC. Unfortunately, the replacement cabin had the exact same problem. We let the unit run continuously overnight and throughout the following day. We were provided with two fans, one large fan and one small fan, but even with both running, the cabin never became comfortable enough for our family to sleep well. The loft where our children slept remained especially hot. When I politely reached out again, I asked if someone could inspect the AC because we were hoping to get a good night’s sleep before checking out. Instead, I was told that “the HVAC system is not an AC” and that it wasn’t intended to work like an air conditioner. I was instructed to keep it set at 68°F because lowering the temperature could cause it to freeze. We followed those instructions exactly, but the cabin still never cooled properly. We were also told maintenance had already gone home, so there wasn’t much they could do that day. What makes this especially confusing is that the website clearly advertises these cabins as having air conditioning, yet we were later told the system isn’t intended to work like an AC. As a guest paying for a cabin during extreme summer temperatures, that’s not what I expected. To make matters worse, because we had to rely on the fans all night, dust from the cabin was blown around and settled onto our bed, making the experience even less comfortable. Mechanical problems can happen, and I understand that. What disappointed me was how the situation was handled. I wasn’t looking for a discount or special treatment. I simply wanted the accommodations that were advertised and a comfortable place for my family to sleep. For the price we paid, the experience fell well below expectations. If you’re planning to stay here during the summer months, especially when temperatures exceed 100°F, I would strongly reconsider unless you’re comfortable sleeping in a cabin that may not cool down adequately. I hope management addresses these issues because the property itself has a lot of potential, but guests should receive the experience that’s being advertised.

I still remember how the reception lady treated me. the condescending look. There was absolutely nothing in the room—not even one tissue or a cup but a lizard. It’s also quite far from Yosemite, which means also 1star for the location. By far the most disappointing and overpriced accommodation I’ve stayed at during my world trip.
