About

Yosemite Gateway Motel sits in Lee Vining, close to Mono Lake and the park's eastern entrance — guests describe it as a solid stopover before or after driving through Yosemite. It's a low-key, no-frills motel: the kind of place where you park, sleep, and get back on the road early rather than linger by a pool.

Rooms

Standard rooms are simple and clean, and reviewers describe a cozy, cabin-style two-bedroom Family Unit that works for groups splitting up a long highway trip. Not every room includes a refrigerator or a bathroom exhaust fan, so guests who want air conditioning, a microwave, and a fridge should confirm those extras when booking — some travelers said paying more for the upgraded setup was worth it.

Location & Noise

The draw here is location: guests mention walking across the street for dinner and around Lee Vining's small downtown in the evening. Rooms facing the highway pick up traffic noise, including trucks passing overnight, so light sleepers may want to ask for a room set back from the road.

We were lucky enough to get a room at the back. I have to admit that the four rooms facing the main street must be less appealing. So, for us, it was a view of the lake below. Honestly, it wasn't noisy at all; we slept very well. The bedding was comfortable. The reception was excellent.

Excellent customer service. The receptionist was very welcoming and speaks both English and Spanish.

It's ok. About the same price as the rest of them in the same area, but if was in a more populated area the price is way too high. It costs about the same as decent hotel/motels in Las Vegas.

Room was clean and fine except being under street level all the vehicles passing by sounded like Maveric doing fly bys

Good location and access to Yosemite, but we expected more for the price. Cabin-like 2 bedroom Family Unit was cozy but the back bedroom side door let in too much adjacent highway/truck noise.
