About

Yosemite International Hostel sits in the small town of Big Oak Flat, a practical home base if you want dorm-bed prices without giving up a bar, a shared kitchen, and other travelers to swap trail notes with. Guests describe it as simple, clean, and genuinely social — the kind of place where a shared dorm turns into a group of new hiking partners by morning.

Reviewers note the bunks come with their own shelving and reading lights, and the shower area is stocked with shampoo and soap. There's a shared fridge and coffee available for anyone using the kitchen.

Getting to Yosemite

had a great time here! Loved the staff and setting. The surrounding town is beautiful and it’s close enough to Yosemite to be convenient. I’d highly recommend it! For solo women travelers: if you select a shared dorm for accommodation, the staff does their best to put you in a shared dorm with other women. It’s not always possible when the hostel is busy, but they do their best.

I have been here several times and I like the location better than anything else. It only takes 40 minutes to Yosemite entrance. It has all the convenient stores next to it. I really love the place with affordable price and cleanness of room. Love small town vibe around it.

My phone kept acting like tioga pass wasn’t open or something and directing me to drive all the way around to the valley which was like a 2 hour and 15 minute drive instead of going to the nearest entrance which made for a long few days until I figured a alternative way which was much quicker on the last day. My only complaint is that there is only one bathroom and when there is 10+ people in one building that SUCKS. There is also no air conditioning so be prepared for that. Opening up the windows made it a little cooler in the dorms. Other than that it was a pretty simple hostel. Check out the coffee shop two doors down if you stay it’s excellent.

This hostel was a great bang for the buck and I got to meet some nice people in my room. I was impressed with how things were organized and the provisions: nice shower with shampoo and soap, bunks with convenient shelving and lights, and fridge with coffee+kitchen amenities. With about a 30 minute ride to the entrance of yosemite, friendly hosts, and an affordable cost, you can't go wrong with this option!
