About

Yosemite West Condo is a woodsy condo complex in El Portal, built around full kitchens and fireplaces rather than standard hotel rooms. It carries a 4.2 out of 5 rating across 69 reviews, with guests consistently pointing to the kitchen-and-fireplace setup and the quiet setting as the draw, and more mixed feedback on maintenance responsiveness and connectivity.

What's in each unit

Units include a full kitchen and a fireplace, and the complex has on-site laundry facilities — handy for a multi-night stay where cooking beats driving out for every meal. Several guests describe the surroundings as genuinely remote, with no restaurants or stores within walking distance, so plan to bring in groceries for the stay.

Good to know before you book

  • Cell signal and wifi are reported as weak in the area; one guest reached customer service only after a neighbor shared their wifi password.
  • A handful of reviews describe slow response from management during a stay — power outages and requests for extra towels or fans among them — so it helps to have a backup plan for anything that comes up overnight.
  • Reviewers describe the rooms themselves as basic rather than upscale; the kitchen, fireplace, and setting are what draw repeat mentions, not room finishes.

Very disappointing experience. We arrived around 9 PM after a long drive to Yosemite and found that the sofa bed for our 9-year-old son was broken. The staff initially told us they would fix it the next day, which was unacceptable since our child needed a bed that night. After a lot of confusion, management even unlocked the wrong room, exposing another guest’s belongings. Eventually, we were moved to a much smaller room where the sofa bed worked. We accepted the smaller room because it was the only option available that night. When we asked about the rate difference, we were told that the front desk couldn’t handle billing over the phone and that it would be resolved afterward. Since then, our emails and phone calls have gone unanswered. Poor customer service, a serious security mistake, and no follow-up. We are now disputing the charge with our credit card company. Would not stay here again.

A little out of the way but much less expensive than in Yosemite Valley.
