Yosemite Westgate Lodge
A rustic Groveland lodge with a pool, minutes from Yosemite's west entrance
About
Yosemite Westgate Lodge sits in Groveland, offering a straightforward, budget-oriented base for exploring the park's western side. Rooms are simple, there's an outdoor pool and hot tub to unwind in after a long day on the trails, and the property has a restaurant and bar with live entertainment. Reviewers consistently mention it's about a 20-minute drive to Yosemite's Big Oak Flat entrance — a real advantage after you've already logged miles inside the park.
What to Expect
This is a rustic, no-frills motor lodge, not a resort. Guests praise the pool, clean and well-appointed rooms, in-room fridges, an ice machine, and on-site laundry, plus a split-bathroom layout that works well for groups sharing a room. An eatery next door covers dinner without another drive. At the same time, recent reviews are mixed — some guests have flagged spotty wifi, worn furnishings, and inconsistent front-desk service — so come in with expectations set for a roadside lodge rather than a polished hotel.

Our stay at Yosemite Westgate Lodge was pleasant overall. The room was ok, and we had no major issues during our visit. Unfortunately, our experience after checkout was extremely disappointing. We accidentally left our Apple AirPods Max in the room. As soon as we realized it, we called the lodge, and we were relieved when the staff confirmed that they had found them. We were instructed to mail a box with a prepaid shipping label so they could send the headphones back to us. We promptly shipped the box with prepaid return labels and tracking. The package was delivered to the lodge, but weeks later our headphones have still not been shipped back. After following up by phone, we were told they could no longer locate them. We fully acknowledge that leaving our headphones behind was our mistake. However, once the lodge confirmed they had the item and instructed us to send shipping materials, we trusted that it would be returned. It is very frustrating and disappointing that an item they acknowledged having is now missing. This experience has left us with serious concerns about how lost property is handled. I hope the lodge reviews its lost-and-found procedures so future guests do not experience the same situation.

This is the worst place to stay. The customer service is horrendous! STAY AWAY! They will not even let you cancel your booking even though they say they have 24 hour cacellation policy. They won't let you chnage the dates apparently due to "too much complications" that they have to deal with for it and are too lazy to do anything. The front desk lady supervisor or manager is VERY RUDE! She picked up the phone and just started yelling to answer a question about cancellation. I asked a question one time and she immediately started yelling and being rude. I will never stay here with such service. Update 7/23/2026: replying to the reply: I was never offered those 2 options. Now they are lying about the options they gave and what they have done. This place is horrible. Not only do are they rude, now they are liars too. If I was offered the option to cancel for free, I would have taken it and no left a bad reply. I am not here to bash people or places. They should be truthful and courteous and talked to people like they were people and not be so rude and lying now about the actions they say they offered and took which they didn't.
